Energy security in numbers
Energy flow
At the being of 2006 Europe’s weakness in the energy field was exposed during the Ukriane-Russian gas dispute, this highlighted the problems of having individual policies for each state when dealing with external energy suppliers.
It is disputes like the Ukraine-Russian1 dispute that can lead to instability in energy market and in time force up consumer prices. The best way to avoid issues with external wholesale energy supplier in EU would be to have one singular policy for all European states, one voice. It was announced2 by European Commission President that this is exactly what he want for Europe in the future; one singular policy was just one part of the entire plan which is focused on reducing Europe’s green house gas emissions by 20% for 2020.
The EU’s plan would reduce dependency on external energy suppliers and bring down the cost of the house hold energy bill.
